Na most ebből a koncepcióból egyetlen dolog maradt meg, mégpedig a narancssárga árnyalata.

September was a huge landmark in Logo-history, since two mammoths form the online world (both Yahoo and Microsoft’s Bing) revealed their new logos. We had a previous article about Yahoo, who made not just one, but a bunch of new logos and then left them for the public to decide, which – in my honest opinion – was not a delightful move, since it didn’t bring the innovation I expected.

It was not the case at Bing… I guess the old logo is familiar to everyone: Microsoft Segoe font, trademark, pale blue and orange.

From this concept the sole survivor was the “orange”. The main aspect of the design was to make Bing fit the other Microsoft products, and this obstacle was well avoided again by the giant corporation. The “i” and the “n” letters are the same as in Microsoft’s logo, and “b” serves as a mirror to the friendly “g”, fair and square. According to the company the logo was not made in one night, instead it was a long procedure and after (a chinese?) test, it was finalized.

Fortunately they didn’t stop, and the site also received a new, responsive design, probably due to the square shapes it reminds me of MySpace (or the Tile design in Windows 8). A loud road for Microsoft, they miraculously turned the otherwise “bastard-son” into a new and lovable brand.
