Samba vs. Magista

Even those who don’t like football that much must have heard that this year is the

end of another four-year old hiatus: one of the most watched shows of the globe,

the FIFA World Cup is held this year. The interest shown by fans is many-layered: it can originate from the desire to see the greatness of one’s nation, but one can be interested in sport performances, successes and debacles, the creativity and boorishness of the fans, and above all – money. This shouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing since the biggest investors in the world are preparing hard to show that they are the men, putting a lot of money into marketing and research and development. This event makes their competing even more obvious to the public.

That’s why the situation of adidas is so awkward. They are suspected of stealing Nike’s ideas for a shoe that adidas say they already started working on 12 years ago trying to come up with a shoe that resembles to socks. The only problem is that Nike have launched the product in 2012, so it’s them who are now considered as inventors.

The bottom of all of this: the new Primeknit FS looks cool, it is knitted just like Nike’s Flyknit and its long-legged version could be mistaken for socks.

This is also true to Nike’s Magista, at least according to the company. Copying the production process will probably bring lawyers in the picture too, not to mention banks that will have to deal with changing the penalty to one dollar bills.

Anyway, both of them look great!
