Carmakers close factories and freeze sales due to the war in Ukraine

Major car manufacturers Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Aston Martin, are also affected by the consequences of the war in Ukraine. The biggest car companies are closing factories and suspending sales in Russia.

The list of industrial consequences of the invasion of Ukraine already includes measures on Russia by ten major car and motorcycle manufacturer groups. As the Russian invasion has been on for more than a week, essential parts from closed Ukrainian plants have started to dry up, forcing manufacturers across Europe to cut production. At the same time, a growing number of car brands supplying Russia have halted sales due to sanctions, lack of payment or loss of reputation.
