A series of art events to arrive in Prague: SUMO

SUMO Prague is a meeting place for international galleries, artists, curators, collectors, and art journalists in the Czech capital. Now in its third edition, the event will be open from the 1st of September to the 14th of October this year. The event, which will showcase current trends in contemporary art, will debut with a three-day opening between September 1 and 3. The keyword for this year’s edition is CO-EXIST.

SUMO has been held for the last two years under the subtitle The Odd Year, but this year the organizers have chosen CO-EXIST as the new edition’s theme, which in the light of recent events, emphasizes the growing need for communication and solidarity, as reflected in the various artistic works. The series of events will include exhibitions, performances, lectures, and other events in the rooms of the twelve participating galleries across Prague, showcasing the work of established and emerging Czech and international artists.

The event will feature works by artists represented by galleries from Copenhagen, Riga, and Vienna, among others, as well as a joint project by Japanese artists Atsuo Hukuda and Shuhei Fukuda, and a solo exhibition by Odessa-born Siggi Sekira. The detailed SUMO program is available on the event website!
