Archeature: on the border between man and architecture

The Iranian architect Ehsan Kazerooni envisioned hybrid beings that are part human, part architecture: he replaced George Steinmetz’s portraits of farm workers with architectural motifs. The artist named the creatures in his series of spectacular yet bizarre montages “Archeature”(Architecture + Creature).

Kazerooni matched each harvester’s ethnicity with their country’s historic architecture to reveal how the past (still) influences their realities and identities today. The architect believes that by discovering the hidden shapes and geometries of past cultures, we can get closer to our civilization and people.
