Alessi unveiled Virgil Abloh’s reimagined cutlery that builds on the aesthetics of mechanical workshops and screws. The project is a collaboration with the London-based design studio Alaska Alaska and will be presented as a special installation at the Fuorisalone exhibition in 2022.
It also marks a new era for the 100-year-old Alessi, who is now beginning a new chapter of its design history. “(…) I remember that the first reference he showed me was a wrench—very far from the elegance of what we habitually think of as good design. It was almost brutalist. I found this very interesting, as for us, it was a new approach. Alas, we had very little time to make our collaboration with Virgil, but I am so glad we did,” Alberto Alessi told Wallpaper.
