The period of application for the Moholy-Nagy László Design Scholarship has started. Young designers and design theorists are welcome to apply until April 1, 2020. Creators younger than 35 years of age with a specialized degree (BA, BSc, MA, MSc) in art, design and design theory can apply for the six-month-long scholarship worth HUF 900,000.

In the past more than thirty years, the Moholy-Nagy László Design Scholarship has provided an opportunity for professional and talent development to more than two hundred young designers. The program expanded with an increasing number of participants from the industrial and manufacturing sector and monitored by the economic decision makers provides an opportunity for the creation of design and research projects implemented by own-initiative or via collaborations with manufacturers. During the half-year process, the creators can dive deep into their field of research, can develop their products along with high quality professional assistance and can build a marketable business model.

In addition to an autonomous design or research project, entrants can apply in four themes announced in the framework of collaboration with manufacturers. In the task announced and financed by Herendi Porcelánmanufaktúra Zrt., the purpose is to establish a multifunctional tableware fitting into kitchen service. MAFORM announced two tasks as a professional partner: one of the possible tasks is to design a product-user interaction relationship system and its elements within interactive transportation, and the other is to research blockchain technology’s areas of use in everyday life of and the possible impacts of the same on our object culture. In the call of Varkoly Fiai Kft., a new member of the program, the task is to design an upholstered seating unit.

Applications can be submitted until April 1 to the Office of the Hungarian Design Council via electronic and printed means. The applications shall include the form downloaded from the website and filled out correctly, the description of the planned project, the specific phases of implementation in detail as well as the professional CV and portfolio of the applicant.
