Is it over for paper cranes?—Origami technique can help to build electric scooters

The idea of the “industrial origami” process was conceived by the founders of STILRIDE already in 2019 when they modeled their newly invented scooter design with the help of paper origami.

Folding steel plates is certainly not a new idea when it comes to manufacturing, as it has been used before to create products such as washing machines and ovens, but the Swedish startup is the first company to build an electric motorcycle with this technique. A durable vehicle with significantly less material and weight can be created by folding the structure. Compared to a conventional scooter, STILRIDE’s model requires 70% fewer parts, thus reducing labor and material costs.
