Paris is building an urban cable car line

The city’s first cable car line will be 4.5 km long and connect several suburban sections to the south-eastern part of the city’s metro network.

Câble 1 will connect the Villeneuve-Saint-Georges suburban area with the Créteil Pointe du Lac metro station. Five stops will be built and each cabin will have a capacity of 10 people. The city decided on the cable car idea because the hilly terrain of the suburbs makes it difficult to build public transport routes on land and underground. The works are led by Doppelmayr France and the French transport company Île-de-France Mobilités.

Construction will start at the end of the year and the opening is scheduled for 2025.
