Looking at the little ones running around in the playgrounds, we often wonder how nice it was to try the slides that looked steep at the time, or to sit on the swings that almost flew us to the sky. Although our dimensions do not necessarily allow us to use the seesaw or build a castle in the sandbox, we can still admire the beautiful and aesthetic playgrounds, especially if we come across special solutions and concepts that harmoniously fit into the urban, built environment!
Complemented by designer Iza Rutkowska, the team of the Polish BUDCUD architecture office dreamed up an impressive playground in Sopot, where the famous classic comic book series Kajko and Kokosz was born. The tale was later made into an animated film, and now young and old alike can meet the characters as wooden sculptures and installations. The playground, created using only natural materials, is not only stylish and tasteful, but also has a skill-building function. Elements suitable for climbing, jumping, sliding and drumming provide an interactive way to keep children engaged while creating a safe place for carefree running. Thanks to the rubber coverings of the equipment, major accidents can be almost completely avoided. The naturally colored public square with a refined design is a worthy tribute to Janusz Christa, the creator of the popular series, who is considered the most famous inhabitant of the city.
