The building is located in the historical part of Poznań, which has been renovated over six years: bright interiors signal renewal, and its former parking lot has turned into a park with mobile street furniture making it convenient even for meetings.
The renovation of the town hall began with the transformation of its former parking lot located in the building’s courtyard in 2015, followed by the remaking of the historic C building. The architects of Atelier Starzak Strebicki sought to find the hidden potential in the building while using materials that reflect the historical past and former architectural features.
On the first floor, brick tiles and stone roof tiles were used as cladding, while on the second floor, the warm hue of the oak flooring contrasts with the white walls. The most important historical elements have been retained, only the functional arrangement has been changed in most places. The renovation was also aimed at making the building more inclusive, open to locals and tourists alike.
