Peter Beck, the CEO of Rocket Lab, says their latest rocket design, dubbed Neutron, will be able to transport people into space. The Neutron is a forty-meter-high, eight-ton reusable launch vehicle “tailored for mega constellations, deep space missions and human spaceflight,” the firm said.
The company Rocket Lab, founded in 2006, is currently the industry leader for missions launching small satellites. Neutron’s debut flight is scheduled for 2024.
Rocket Lab has also announced their plan to go public through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). The SPAC transaction is valued at $4.1 billion and the merger is expected to close in the second quarter of 2021. Peter Back said that this milestone will accelerate Rocket Lab’s ability to unlock the full potential of space.
