Highlights of Hungary award winners

On the evening of 24 February, this year’s Highlights of Hungary awards were presented at the Eiffel Műhelyház. Breaking last year’s record, nearly 100,000 votes were cast for the nominations. As in the previous year, the top prize for the most outstanding, endearing and inspiring stories was awarded to a volunteer organization that helps people in need, the Vérlovagok.

Following the Vérlovagok, the bird atlas of the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society and The Legendry of Szeklerland received the most votes. In keeping with the Highlights of Hungary tradition, ambassadors were free to nominate any person, organization, or creation for the award, as long as it was in line with the initiative’s motto “Do, Create, Enrich”. Along with the Audience Award, the Ambassadors Award was also presented. From the many stories, the ambassadors choose to give the prize of two million forints to the Tulipán Children’s Home. Painter Anna Pakosz, the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society, the Legendry of Szeklerland and Donát Fehérvári were also honored with special prizes during the evening.
