After eighty years, the historic façade of one of London’s most iconic buildings, the Harrods shopping center, is set to be restored. The first phase of the meticulous refurbishment process is now complete. The renovation was carried out by Make Architects, who were also involved in constructing the Agora in Budapest.
Make has brought together a team of specialist contractors and craftsmen for a significant restoration project, the first phase of which included the renovation of the entrances, windows and the now automated, iconic green shades. Drawing on historical research, the experts breathed new life into the original features of the Edwardian Baroque and Beaux-Arts style architecture while responding to the needs of today’s luxury retailers.
