Participants of the CASSINI competition might rewrite the continent’s tourism with space data

Design Terminal has won another international space industry-related competition. The innovation agency is organizing the 3rd round of the CASSINI Hackathon in Hungary, which aims to help participants make European tourism more sustainable. European space projects and services will help the participants.

The 3rd CASSINI Hackathon focuses on sustaining and preserving unforgettable European destinations for the future. Participants are encouraged to create ideas that support sustainable tourism, increase experiences and proclaim the overall discovery of natural Europe.

The CASSINI Hackathons and Mentoring program, initiated by the European Union and its space program, provides access to European space satellites Copernicus, Galileo and EGNOS, which participants can use to address one of three urgent challenges, such as finding sustainable destinations, introducing tourists to lesser-known cities and cultures, and encouraging travelers to a sustainable way of visiting nature.

The event will take place between 12 and 14 May. The winners will be awarded locally and at the end of the competition, as well, and the creators of the best solutions will be able to participate in a six-month mentor program, which includes 100 hours of personalized, professional mentoring.

You can register to the hackathon here, prior space-related experience are not needed for the participation.
