Foster + Partners’ Le Dôme winery has opened in Saint-Émilion, among the pastoral hills of Bordeaux. The low-lying, circular-plan building blends seamlessly with the UNESCO world heritage cultural landscape.
The structure of the building looks both inwards and outwards, providing an efficient space for wine production while engaging in dialogue with the surrounding landscape. The external ramp emphasizes the relationship with the site and the internal one allows the visitor to walk through the different stages of the wine process. Both ramps then lead up to a gallery on the upper level, from where you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the vineyards while tasting.
