Out of all the proposals submitted, Zaha Hadid Architect’s futuristic design won the international competition.
The new station will connect the Bolshaya Koltsevaya Line with the Biryulyovskaya Line to be completed in the future. As Moscow’s metro lines are used by tens of thousands of people on a daily basis, the designers plant to incorporate innovative solutions and information elements that will enhance travel experience while facilitating orientation in space.
Based on the designs, it looks as if the studio “streamlined” the station: every spatial element signifies movement. The bands of light covering everything from floor to ceiling will help passengers find their direction of travel, while the round shape further enhances the feeling of momentum and movement.
