Anyone can now enter the pioneering interiors of Charlotte Perriand

London’s Design Museum presents the work of French designer and architect, Charlotte Perriand, in a retrospective exhibition. The exhibition’s unique feature is that the iconic interiors of the artist can also be viewed in the form of full-scale reconstructions. Among other things, the designer created interiors for Le Corbusier’s studio, collaborated on the design of several iconic pieces of furniture, and has even worked with Ernő Goldfinger.

The exhibition entitled Charlotte Perriand: The Modern Life is open until the 5th of September. At the exhibition, visitors can immerse themselves in the world of the designer, walking through interiors such as the apartment designed for the 1929 Salon d’Automne. This ninety-square-foot model home was meant to be a manifesto for the modern lifestyle, with tubular metal furniture and other multifunctional metal objects, including cabinets that were also room dividers. The exhibition also features iconic pieces of furniture such as the Chaise Longue Basculante, as well as photos, scrapbooks, sketches, and prototypes, shedding new light on Charlotte Perriand’s creative process.

The Design Museum created the exhibition in collaboration with the Perriand family. You can find more information about the event here.
