The Temple is traditionally the most important building at Burning Man, built each year only to be reduced to ashes by the end of the festival.
The 27th of August marks the return of one of the world’s most important and interesting festivals, Burning Man in the US, which was first held in 1986 and has set the Nevada desert alight every year since.
The Temple, which is one of the festival’s central buildings, and the “soul of Burning Man”, is built to a new design every year. This year, designers Ela Madej and Reed Finlay have been given the opportunity to realize their vision, which the festival provides an exceptional opportunity to do, particularly because one of the ten principles is unrestricted expression.
The building, named the Temple of Heart, will be grandiose in itself with a height of 12 meters, topped by a spire of a further 12 meters. While the complex architecture is stunning in itself, what makes the plans even more impressive is that the shape is inspired by an “upside-down desert flower with the stem pointing skywards”.
