Exhibition including original sets from Wes Anderson’s new film opens in London

Fans, attention! In addition to the many objects used during the filming, which are characteristic of the director’s aesthetic, the exhibition will also recreate one of the key locations of the story.

Wes Anderson’s latest film, which premiered at Cannes, is about to hit cinemas worldwide. Asteroid City stars some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Steve Carell, Jeff Goldblum, and Jason Schwartzmann. The story is set in 1955 in a fictional small American town in the middle of the desert, where every year on September 23rd, they celebrate the impact of a giant meteor that hit the Earth in 3007 BC. A school group arrives for the event—only for strange things to start happening in the small town.

The fans of the director, known for his highly saturated, symmetrical shots, are in for a treat, because this time they get an exhibition to accompany the film premiere. The exhibition space, London’s 180 The Strand, will be filled with original sets, props, miniatures, costumes, and artwork, which have been selected with the same meticulous care as with Wes Anderson’s previous projects. But the biggest attraction of the exhibition, which opens on 17 June, is that one of the film’s key locations is being recreated on-site: the quintessential 1950s-era classic American diner from Asteroid City.
