Nature took over in the Swiss exhibition space | Ólafur Elíasson

The gallery of the Beyeler Foundation in Riehen has been flooded for the Icelandic artist Ólafur Elíasson’s new exhibition, Life.

Ólafur Elíasson’s previous, nature-inspired installations and projects investigated the relationship between culture and environment, with creations becoming known for their monumentality and their atmospheric power. His newest work, examining a similar topic, posed no small challenge to the exhibition space of the Swiss Beyeler Foundation: tearing down the glass wall of the building, Eliason introduced the park’s lake into it, creating a space for a multisensory community experience that also questions conventions on art, nature, and cultural institutions. Another unique element of the exhibition is the lack of walls that would surround the exhibition, thus allowing visitors to enjoy the spectacle regardless of the time of day.
