The award-winning AURA smart speaker, created by industrial designer András Kókai, plays your favorite music in an innovative and stylish way.
Portable Bluetooth or home speakers are rapidly spreading, of which there are countless versions. András Kókai, who graduated from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design with a master’s degree in industrial design, still managed to create a concept that gives new possibilities to music lovers.
AURA is a transition between static speakers with audio and music playing functions only and devices based on artificial intelligence that can be integrated into smart systems.
“During the design process, I considered it important that the possibilities of use justify a new music-playing object character, thus creating a transition between the world of sound systems and headphones. The form, which was created from a torus and might seem unusual at first, emphasizes technological innovation and also gives the main quality of the object,” says Kókai.
The special design not only feasts the eye, but also reinterprets the way you listen to music. The speaker can also be used in a mode with focused beams or in a shared, social mode. The modes and ultra-speakers are controlled by built-in artificial intelligence, which gives the listener feedback through the OLED display of the ring. As an extra feature, the device can also be used as an AR interface with an app developed for the speaker.
Although the AURA project has not yet been implemented, the concept presented as a diploma thesis made its debut in front of professionals, and they awarded András’ idea with an ArtHungry prize. We hope to hear more about AURA and soon be able to test a model in person. For further information on the ambitious project, click HERE.
