The Alabama-based startup, SE Aeronautics, has presented the SE200, an all-new wide-body aircraft concept with a three-wing configuration. The company says the design has the potential to revolutionize the world of commercial aviation.
The aircraft concept is designed to carry two hundred and sixty-four passengers, and the team claims it can fly more than ten thousand miles with eighty percent fewer emissions than comparable conventional aircraft. The innovative aircraft is envisioned as a single-body structure that can float on water. Fuel is stored in self-sealing tanks on top of the fuselage, rather than in the wings. According to SE Aeronautics, the concept would have a range of more than 10,000 miles as a regional or long-haul passenger carrier. “This aircraft will be the most practical, profitable, and sustainable solution for today’s severely under-performing passenger technology,” emphasized Tyler Mathews, CEO of SE Aeronautics.
