W Budapest celebrates fashion with Nanushka collaboration at the end of August

W Budapest, which debuted in Hungary in July, will be getting involved in the city’s cultural and social life at the end of August through a fashion-themed collaboration with Nanushka and its own series of events, Faces of Budapest, which is just starting. The world-famous Hungarian fashion brand’s latest collection, called Kopjafa, will be on display in an installation in the lobby of W Budapest from 28 August to 14 September during Budapest Central European Fashion Week.

Like other members of the W Hotels chain, part of Marriott International, W Budapest draws on bold, exciting local inspirations for its design and seeks to connect with local brands. This is the spirit behind the collaboration with Nanushka. The common denominator between W Budapest and the international fashion brand from Hungary is the similarity of the two brands’ DNA: their basic source of inspiration is Hungarian culture and the combination of modern and historical, old and new elements. This concept is brought to life in the Kopjafa collection, which has an important Hungarian cultural aspect. Originally from Szeklerland and with a 500-year-old tradition, the kopjafa (which could literally be translated as “lance staff”—the Transl.) has evolved in modern history from a headstone representing the personal characteristics of the deceased to a symbol of heritage as a lasting cultural object. The handcrafted tradition associated with these unique objects is reinterpreted by Nanushka in a modern design language.
