Watch made from recycled aluminum and coffee grounds

Two Swiss brands, Nespresso and Hublot, have teamed up to create an innovative product from recycled and recyclable materials.

The result of their collaboration is the Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin, a watch made from recycled Nespresso aluminum capsules and coffee grounds. The watch is part of Nespresso’s Second Life initiative, through which the brand has collaborated with renowned Swiss companies in recent years to create new products from used aluminum capsules.

“The Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin is the perfect illustration of the harmonious coexistence between circularity and luxury. It demonstrates that circular products can be just as elegant and refined as conventional luxury products, proving that it is possible to combine environmental values and aesthetic requirements without compromise,” said Guillaume Le Cunff, CEO of Nespresso. “This is a symbolic watch: in creating the Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin, Hublot and Nespresso have demonstrated that it is possible to add value to recycled raw materials—and that circularity has no limits,” reads the official press release.

The watch case is specially designed for this piece: it is carved from oak wood and its inner parts, made from recycled fabrics, paper, cardboard, and plastic yarns, as well as PET, can be removed and recycled.
