Build your own town | Townscaper

Experimental game without rules, inviting us to build unusual island towns. Meet Townscaper!

Townscaper has no rules, no goals and no real gameplay, only the beauty of building and creativity. The game invites players to create charming villages, large cathedrals or sky cities on stilts, while they establish roads and canal networks.

Game artist Oskar Stalberg, the developer and designer of the game wanted to offer more of a toy than a game – Townscaper focuses on the joy of building plus a sound effect that adds another degree of satisfaction. The game is very easy to play with: we have to choose a color from the palette, place the colorful blocks on the irregular grid and watch Townscaper’s underlying algorithm automatically turn those blocks into houses, arches, stairways, bridges and backyards.

If you are looking for a way to unwind and would like to dive into the joys of building, you can download Townscaper here. The game is currently available on Windows PC but a MacOS release is also planned for the future.
