Casa Batlló got a special curtain

Kengo Kuma and Associates used 164,000 meters of aluminum chain to create the unique curtain, whose visual language foreshadows the organic shapes inside the house designed by Gaudí.

The curtains were added as part of a complete renovation of the house, which was designed in 1904: the Bernat family, the owners, wanted to bring modern elements to the house to make it more interesting for visitors. The Japanese studio’s work decorates the atrium and the staircase, using aluminum chains from the Spanish company Kriskadecor, and shows the play of light and shadow across the house from a different dimension: it takes on a lighter hue as you move up the staircase.
