The AN Bistro & Cafe is the latest project of a Vietnamese family who own several restaurants in Prague. Their main ambition is to bring authentic Vietnamese cuisine to the Czech capital, not only from a gastronomic but also from an architectural point of view. Thus, the interior design of the new space is inspired by the raw atmosphere of Vietnamese streets and the red tones reminiscent of Asia. Ironically, the renovated building was originally a Chinese restaurant. Let’s see!
For the architects of NEUHÄUSL HUNAL, it was important to avoid design clichés and gestures and to capture the main concept in a local context. Thus, the kitchen, which is located in the guest space, is designed to be more open than usual, forming a single unit with the tables and the floor surface.
In terms of materials, the red tiles dominate the bistro’s interior, contrasting with the white and grey tones. The bistro’s ambiance is further characterized by the original scraped walls, steel guest tables, patterned rubber floor, and the translucent PVC curtains and exposed wiring typical of warehouses.
