Sauna with the sounds of nature

Sauna with the sounds of nature

Thanks to the Czech What a Hut team, a new outdoor recreation area has been built near Zlín, at the foot of the woods around the city. It’s a recreational community space, not just for sauna lovers. Introducing Budka.

Product and interior designer Adéla Bačová brought together her knowledge from different industries when she founded her Zlín-based studio What a Hut. Her vision is to create wooden recreational pieces that combine the triad of design, architecture, and nature. In fact, the studio’s projects are reminiscent of the world of huts, with small cottages, saunas, or cabins encouraging you to slow down, contemplate, and seize the moment.

These are the same principles behind the concept of their latest project, Budka, which can be customized to suit your needs. The multifunctional building can be a sauna, an office, a hiding place for the little ones in the garden, or even a meditation retreat. “The whole object is made of six spruce bioboards. In the design process, we primarily focused on simplicity and functionality. One of the significant elements is a perforated wall, which guarantees a sufficient dose of privacy while letting in natural light,” Adéla elaborated. “Cuttings made during the production are further utilized in its interior. They can be used for sauna benches or as a table for high-focus work in private,” she added.

The aim of What a Hut is to create a community space where guests can enjoy a relaxing sauna, cook on the fire, or engage in deep conversations with their fellow guests. „We believe visitors will enjoy all activities even more in a secluded place in nature, in complete solitude,” Lenka Sršňová, the marketing manager of What a Hut projects pointed out.

As well as being available for purchase for private use, the Budka can also be experienced by sauna lovers near the city of Zlín. The booking system for the rest area, which can accommodate up to four people, is currently available on the What a Hut website, subject to a voluntary contribution.
