A new neuroscience center in Denmark is designed to mimic the human brain

Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) designs the new Danish Neuroscience Center (DNC) in Aarhus. The new project will stand as the first of its kind, as it brings together the fields of psychiatry and neuroscience under one roof. And the inspiration for the building came from a unique yet not unexpected place: the human brain!

The 19 000 square meter building complex mimics the gyrification, or soft folds, of the brain. The folding design will help to make the most efficient use of the site while at the same time introducing visual connections between the hospital’s different departments.
