A never-ending harvest from Shanghai

Chinese architecture studio Wutopia Lab transformed an unused stable into a colorful land art with the purpose of proclaiming farm culture and local architecture. The soil, painted in golden yellow with dark red lines, evokes a bountiful harvest field where time has frozen and the harvest is eternal.

The site’s original gatehouse has been converted into a mobile time capsule, commemorating the authentic reed-built dwellings. Other parts of the barn have been retained in their original form, including the two-storey dormitory building.
