In June, Zakrzówek Park, which has been under renovation for several years and attracting diving enthusiasts for years, was inaugurated.
Although the nearby Twardowskiego cliffs and crystal-clear waters may at first glance remind you of the wild Adriatic landscape, the exact destination is around Kraków. The post-industrial area is the legacy of a former quarry that has been attracting adventurous divers for years, and now, after renovation, Zakrzówek Park is opening its doors to the public and, together with an ecological complex, offers locals a unique spa experience.
The Zakrzówek reservoir was established in 1990 after the flooding of an old limestone quarry. Thanks to limestone deposits, the water in the reservoir has a beautiful turquoise hue. The park covers an area of over 50 hectares and, together with the adjacent areas, has twice the green space of the city center.
In addition to the construction of pools of varying depths on the lagoon’s surface, the park’s modernization also included the development of a climbing area, running and cycling paths. Some critics say that the upgrading of the wildlife area will turn it into a mass spa area, but serious divers can still pursue their passion, as one of the key points of the reconstruction was the development of the Water Sports Center. Moreover, the aforementioned ecological center will be an educational presentation of the flora and fauna of the area, protecting it. The objects are inspired by organic architecture and the surrounding nature. Their concept and realization were carried out by F11 design studio.
