Alma mater from Opálka Design

An extraordinary building in Prague is home to extraordinary institutions. In a beautiful, wooded setting, Hostavice Castle is home to Prague’s Be Open privately funded primary school and Be Happy kindergarten. The beautiful Neo-Renaissance building almost blends into the romantic landscape. Opálka Design was responsible for the harmony of the exterior and interior. Get to know their story!

During the reconstruction of the building, the design studio approached its original elements sensitively. Combining the exterior façade with modern interiors has created a perfect symbiosis of old and new.

Alternative pedagogical methods used in institutions also appear in the form of motifs decorating the ceiling in the interiors. While snow-white fluffy clouds in the kindergarten, origami birds unfolding their wings can be seen in the primary school as metaphors for the methods mentioned.
