Japanese designer Naoko Kimura makes completely safe crayons out of solid rice bran wax and liquid rice bran oil, colored with vegetable and fruit powders.
The designer began experimenting with homemade crayons when she couldn’t find any drawing tools she could safely give to her children, since they, like all toddlers, would often chew on their crayons.
In the crayons she makes, a little food coloring helps even the smallest kids to draw in more vibrant colors, however, all the other ingredients are completely natural. The crayon set is available in a pack of ten colors, and each crayon is named after the fruit or vegetable that gives its color.
