Curved bamboo roofs on a Balinese school

Curved bamboo roofs on a Balinese school

A light, weightless looking, yet massive curved structure: nature has given the inspiration for the roof structure of this building, designed by the architectural firm IBUKU in collaboration with Jörg Stam and Atelier One.

According to IBUKU, the building opens a new era of organic architecture: the bamboo structure floats elegantly on the roof, giving the impression of a drapery. Entering the building thus makes us feel as if we just pushed aside a curtain. This makes the transition between the outside world and the school building seamless for the children.
