What do fun, Mexico, and the microwave have in common? The exuberant creativity of a bunch of Polish girls!
Julia, Kamila, and Zaria met at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, where they were brought together by their passion for fabrics. In 2019, as a result of a spontaneous brainstorming session, the fruit of their professional humility and good humor, their brand, Szmat Skład, was born. The brand aims to draw attention to a long-forgotten design object, the blanket, whose creative approach is a worthy celebration of relaxation. Bohemian, imaginative, and heartwarming—the three Polish girls have taken the concept of stylish comfort to a new level!
The reign of piling, grey blankets is over: unique and fun pieces from Szmat Skład bring a new dimension to the untapped artistic potential of home textiles. According to the designers, the brand offers an opportunity to experience complex visual creation—not only through the joy of weaving but also through the limitless world of graphics. This can be sensed in these passionate designs, which have already explored Mexican visual culture, the joy of free association with the idea of fun, and, surprisingly, the aesthetics of microwave ovens. They always look for inspiration in the most ordinary, untapped situations—trendy graphic designs, sweet childhood memories, and current fashion trends are no exception, but they also ask their lively social media followers what designs they would create.
Going back to the technicalities, the brand’s blankets are all jacquard fabrics, which allows the finished product to be double-sided and the pattern much more durable. Thanks to the use of a variety of patterns and colors and the elaborate design, they create the feeling of being wrapped in a work of art.
With the arrival of colder weather, snuggling up in these delightful creations is not the only way to enjoy them—after blankets and throws, seasonal scarves have also been added to the range and are available on the website along with all the other products.
