The new Millenáris Park opens today

Giant vertical garden, more than 350 trees, a digital water curtain, playground, bike sheds andgreen areas on 17,000 square meters – we get to enjoy all this and many more at the new Millenáris Park.

With the completion of the Széllkapu (Gate of Winds) project expanding both the area and the functions of Millenáris on the Buda side, the capital gained a modern city park and a multifunctional community space.

Check out the new park on HYPEANDHYPER’s video!

The designs of Széllkapu were made by TSPC Group, with Mihály Kádár and Szilvia Könözsi being the lead architects. The plastic spatial elements are further divided by the inviting open spaces established at the entrances of the park, thus creating a connection between the park and the outside world.

The landscape architects of the park – Csaba Majoros and Andrea Balogh (4D Tájépítész Iroda) – designed a “3D” park with a diverse terrain. They planted a total of 355 pre-grown trees in the park and its direct vicinity, while water also received a central role. Aquatic plants live in the new, almost 700 sqm lake, while the wooden pier and the sunbeds and benches installed on the shore offer comfort for those looking for relaxation. The open levels of the vertical garden outfitted with panorama lifts offer a spectacular view over the neighboring urban landscape, while the new underground parking garage providing 500 parking spaces will alleviate the parking problems of the neighborhood.

We already had the chance to explore the new Millenáris, and it was quite inspiring – here, check out our poster inspired by the park, designed by HYPEANDHYPER’s art director László Bárdos!
