Argentinian designer Andrés Reisinger has sold his pieces of virtual furniture at an online auction.
Reisinger became known for his surreal, dreamlike, 3D visualizations. His latest collection is called The Shipping, and the extraordinary quality of its pieces is that in addition to their visual stimuli, they can also be placed in 3D virtual spaces such as Decentraland, Somnium Space or Minecraft. The 3D models can be used in augmented reality applications, video games and CGI movie clips as well.
The virtual furniture went under the hammer on the digital marketplace Nifty Gateway, and were sold out in less than ten minutes. The collection includes surrealist furniture items, such as a table reminiscent of bubble gum, a sofa resembling a deflated silver balloon, or a chrome storage unit with drawers balancing on its undulant frame. Five pieces of The Shipping will also come to life outside of the virtual space, as they will be turned into physical objects and shipped to the buyers.
