One of the world’s leading architectural firms has thought small for a change, creating stylish living spaces for four-legged friends.
British architectural firm Foster + Partners is used to large-scale projects, with countless museums, skyscrapers, and public buildings to their name. But this time they’ve taken a completely different approach: for the Barkitecture doghouse design competition, they’ve created a practical, comfortable and, of course, stylish dog kennel. The biggest advantage of the Barc is that it’s easy to disassemble/assemble, transport, and store thanks to the fact that it all fits in a super flat pack. The most striking feature is a plywood arch, under which the pets can lay their furry heads to sleep. This can be attached to the soft coconut mattress with wooden stakes—making every part of the house sustainable and environmentally friendly.
The main theme of this year’s Barkitecture competition was dogs at work, as numerous studies have shown that bringing pets into the office can significantly improve employee morale. Three sizes will be available to accommodate dogs of all breeds.
