Microsoft will replace its default font, Calibri, after fourteen years.
After Times New Roman, Calibri became the default font of all Microsoft software in 2007, and it will soon be replaced by another font (Calibri will remain available too). Microsoft shared the five fonts competing for the title on Twitter.
Tenorite represents the classic sans serif style and handles the space occupied by characters generously, while the Bierstadt font is inspired by mid-century Swiss typography, evoking Helvetica. With its excitingly shaped arches, Skeena brings a fresh, humanistic approach, while Seaford confronts symmetry, unlike Grandview, which represents a more industrial style.
The fonts are available for download, and Microsoft is waiting for audience feedback on its Twitter post.
