Marina Abramović presents new exhibition in Vienna

The exhibition, which opens on 26 May, will be accompanied by a new series of photographs and installations at Galerie Krinzinger.

Marina Abramović returns to the consideration of the body in a new exhibition Energy Clothes. The Serbian-born artist is known primarily for her performance art, so it is no surprise that the genre is also playing an important role in her Vienna show. This time, she will also be returning to her major works from several decades ago, including Rhythm 2 (1974/1994), Rhythm 4 (1974/1994), Rhythm 10 (1973/2014), and Freeing the Voice (1975/2014).

The pieces of Energy Clothes also build on Abramović’s desire to share her work with her audience, exploring energy forces as a two-way relationship between performer and viewer in works that consider Asian philosophies and ritualistic ceremonies in Latin America and Australia. This approach is not only shown in her photographs taken specifically for the occasion but also extended to sculptures, videos, sounds, and other objects.
