This year, EXPO 2025 will bring the countries of the world to Osaka. Plans for the Czech exhibition, which will focus on spirituality and movement, have been unveiled.
Apropos Architects has designed the Czech pavilion for the next World Expo, which will represent the country in Japan in 2025. The concept behind the building aims to seamlessly integrate spirituality and movement. The designers seek to raise awareness of the (equally) vital role of physical activity in maintaining our overall health. The shape of the pavilion suggests that keeping our bodies and minds in motion can actually shape the space, and its ascending, stair-like structure is a metaphor for an ideal life path. As visitors enter the exhibition space, the content on display will change according to their movements.
While the plans show a thoroughly modern building, Czech tradition has not been forgotten: the all-glass façade is a reference to the famous Czech tradition of glassmaking and is reminiscent of a crystal chandelier. The interior will be over 400 square meters, with an auditorium in the middle. A spiral side ramp will lead to a viewing platform with a restaurant and bar.
