This quirky Volkswagen Beetle has just been sold on an auction for $29,500. The original car was likely built around 1969 by combining the body of a sand rover and a 1958 Volkswagen Beetle. In 2014, the new owner decided to make the beach car even more playful and extravagant. The inspiration came to him from vintage California summers.
Its tasseled and striped roof, wicker seats and salmon-colored exterior instantly evoke a seaside mood.
The vintage vibe is emphasized by chrome headlights and taillights, a tube-like bumper and a custom-made roof frame. The hubcaps, the steering wheel and the shift knob were given an ivory color. A beach umbrella can be secured to the rear seating area with leather straps, and the seat cushions were upholstered with the same striped material as the umbrella. During its transformation, the internal technology was also renewed, making the vehicle ready for an adventure.
