Nadja Andrasev’s film Symbiosis is one of the 96 best animated short movies that made it to the longlist of potential Oscar nominees this year. Now you can watch it too!
The Hungarian audience could see Nadja Andrasev’s 12-minute short movie telling the story of a deceived wife who begins a bizarre investigation of her husband’s infidelities in the framework of Friss Hús Budapest International Short Film Festival.
The French-Hungarian coproduction debuted in 2019 at Annecy International Animation Film Festival, was subsequently screened at more than a 100 festivals and won two dozen awards including that of SXSW Festival’s jury in the category of Best Animated Short. In addition to the Academy Awards longlist, Nadja Andrasev’s picture also made it to another high-ranking list: Symbiosis is also one of the shortlisted nominees for the French César Award.

Only three animated pictures made it to the hallway of the Academy Awards from the Central Eastern European region this year. In addition to Czech-Slovak artist duo Michaela Mihályi and David Štumpf‘s SH_T HAPPENS, two Hungarian animation film directors can compete for the golden statuette: besides Nadja Andrasev’s film, the Hungarian audience can also root for Géza M.
