We Design Everything (and More)

Transitions – An Exhibition by MOME Product Design Students at Budapest Design Week 2025

Where is design headed? This year, students from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design are bringing their answers to Budapest Design Week. Their exhibition, Transitions, takes a fresh look at how education and professional practice, tradition and innovation, art and industry can blend and enrich one another. The show will be hosted by Bäse – Creative Clubhouse in Budapest’s 9th district, an inspiring venue that connects local and international audiences alike.

Kalivoda Flóra Anna - BÅGE

Today, design is less about sticking to traditional craft skills and more about pushing boundaries — building bridges between disciplines, and exploring the meeting points of science, art, intuition, and aesthetics.

As Dorottya Féja, Head of the BA in Product Design at MOME, explains:

“We constantly move between related fields, and sometimes collaboration with completely different disciplines is what’s needed. In this dynamic, ever-changing system, designers can feel both that they know nothing — and that their knowledge can bring value to any field.”

Dániel Lakos, assistant lecturer at MOME and mentor of the exhibition, adds:

“Transitions is for anyone who wants to see where design is going — up close.”

The exhibition invites not only design professionals but anyone curious about the fresh thinking and work of emerging Hungarian designers. By stepping out of the university setting, the students’ projects highlight the importance of the constant exchange between education and the design industry.

Csesznok Ádám - Mercedes-Benz SalzmannG

As part of Budapest Design Week 2025, this joint showcase of MOME’s Hungarian-language BA in Product Design and English-language MA in Design programs presents a curated selection of student works that explore how seemingly different worlds — theory and practice, artificial and natural, abstract and tangible — can influence each other and create inspiring synergies.

Visitors will also have the chance to dig deeper through a guided tour and a thematic roundtable discussion during the exhibition.
