The Taormina beach was already breathtaking, but Dior has upped the luxury factor and is now pampering the guests of a local hotel.
It’s no wonder the makers of the second season of The White Lotus chose Taormina, for it’s as dramatic as it is beautiful, with its centuries-old buildings, sheer cliffs, a smoking volcano next door, and, of course, a stunning beach. One of the local luxury hotels, the Grand Hotel Timeo, is celebrating its 150th birthday this year, and they’re doing it in style—with a little help from Dior. This year, from June to October, the fashion and cosmetics brand is inviting those looking to pamper themselves to the sea-facing spa chalets built among the towering cypress trees as part of a pop-up project called Le Jardin des Rêves, or ‘the garden of dreams’.
The famous 19th-century hotel was designed by English gardener and wildlife conservationist Florence Trevelyan, and since then dozens of writers and artists have sought refuge and inspiration in its meticulously landscaped garden. It is therefore no surprise that Dior Beauty chose the very garden as the location of their project. The color scheme of the cabins, designed by TirthyOne Design+Management, matches the lush park: their green exterior becomes almost invisible in the greenery, while the interiors are decorated with a green version of Dior’s iconic toile de jouy fabric, complemented by rattan furniture. And, of course, the main protagonists are Dior Beauty’s signature facials and body treatments, which combine Western knowledge with traditional Eastern methods for a perfect harmony.
