The world’s first lamp printed from orange peels

A new exciting alternative for turning waste into value has born. Milan-based Krill Design has created the Ohmie, a 100% organic and compostable lamp from Sicilian orange peel.

The design studio dries discarded peels sourced as waste from the food industry, grinds them into powder and mixes them with natural biopolymer, then uses 3D printing to turn them into lightweight lamps. The organic shaped object has a texture similar to real orange peel and a pleasant orange scent.
