Thousand faces of rugs | TOP 5

The rug is a real jolly joker in the interior design: it not only makes the room warmer and cozier, but it divides the space, assigns functions, gives color, pattern and texture to the interior. The best part is that we don’t have to put it only on the ground! In our selection today, we present hand-made, unique rugs that combine tradition and contemporary design.

Traditional Bosnian kilims with a modern twist | Kobeiagi Kilims

The Kobeiagi Kilims brand was dreamed up by Bosnian architect Ivana Blaž and Slovenian designer-graphic designer Nina Mršnik. Their goal is to combine the Bosnian kilim tradition and high quality with a unique, contemporary design to offer an alternative to mass-produced, low-cost rugs. Kilims are woven, non-knotted, nomadic rugs made of wool. They are very versatile: they can be placed on the floor, decorations on walls, windows or used as blankets on a bed or sofa.

Cheerful faces and carnival atmosphere | Masopust

The designer of Masopust in Prague, Anna Štajglová, took the traditions of carpet making and then twisted it with a couple of exciting ideas, creating truly unique things: she has already made a bed headboard, a ceiling rosette and cute faces from the carpet. It is mainly inspired by the diverse, lively world of carnivals.

Authentic rugs from Romania | Made With Love Romania

In the small towns of Romania, the tradition of carpet making has been passed down from generation to generation. Years ago, in almost every rural household, women made beautiful woolen rugs, blankets, and kilims, characterized by a unique plant motif set and beautiful, vibrant colors. This tradition is now disappearing, but Made With Love Romania wants to preserve it. In their selection, we can choose from old pieces left from the dowry and new rugs made by smaller craftsmen.

Slow carpets from Poland | Tartaruga

The Polish Tartaruga studio’s handmade, contemporary rugs are made in the spirit of slow living with traditional tools and techniques. Their name means turtle: a slow, long-lived, special creature, just like their kilims. Their rugs are made in their workshop from recycled wool and cotton, as well as raw, ethically sourced wool. Their kilims and tapestries with natural, pastel colors, cheerful shapes and bohemian fringes can be great accessories for both the living room and the bedroom.

Unique rugs with love | Art.Killerrr

One of our favorites is the vibrant, pop rugs of Ukrainian Art.Killerrr. There are also monstera leaves, SpongeBob, Hello Kitty and Murakami flowers—but the best is clearly the carpet mirror.
