If a stage designer is asked to design the interior of a restaurant, the result will most likely be dramatic. This is what happened in the case of Epoka in Warsaw, too.
The fine dining restaurant of Europejski Hotel in Warsaw is a true curiosity amongst the places relying on a natural palette and minimalist style. Stage designer Boris Kudlička was in charge of the interior of the restaurant, in collaboration with Polish architect office WWAA.
Epoka is clearly showing the marks of Kudlička coming from the world of theater, however, this does not mean that the emphasis would only be on visuality: tactility was just as important for the designer, and so the distinct colors are complemented by noteworthy materials. The entire place is dominated by the classic blue shade, which was, by the way, chosen by Pantone as the color of 2020. This is complemented by materials such as velvet, metal or the glossy metro tiles on the wall of the bar.
Slovakian Kudlička has been working for the Opera House in Warsaw since 1995, but he has already worked with several significant opera houses across the world. Since 2011, he has also been doing the design of various exhibitions and interiors in collaboration with WWAA studio.
