The concept of Float, created by the Andrés & José design studio, was born as an emergency design proposal for those living in the severely flooded area of the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico. The purpose of the floating shelter is to provide effective support to local communities during floods, helping to improve their quality of life.
The floating cabin can be assembled from prefabricated elements to reduce on-site tasks in the areas affected by heavy rain. The highlight of the object is versatility: it can be used on both land and water.
In addition to being a viable solution in a crisis, the project also seeks to redefine the relationship between the environment and society. It aims to show that design is one of the most effective tools for coming up with responses in an environment where circumstances can change at any moment.
